No problems means no reason to switch programs.Īs far as paying, I have a paid version on my media server and gaming rig. I've since upgraded to 圆4 winrar, and haven't seen any problems. The caveat is the testing was done about 3 years ago, using x86 versions of each program. My experience with 7-zip is that any highly compressed archive makes previewing the files impossible, and the decompression itself generally takes longer (I've run Winrar and 7-zip in parallel and 7-zip took 10-30% longer). Winrar deals with them without an issue, and even lets me preview them without a problem. Most of the files I deal with are a few hundred MB to a couple of GB.
It is a bit quirky sometimes since it's a front end for various archivers. It has a nice interface, supports tons of archives and it's also free. Just ramp up the word size parameter and you'll gain quite some better compression rate while keeping the ZIP compatibility. Oh and 7-zip allows you to create higher compression rate standard ZIP archives. LZMA2 is fast and has great results.Īlso, as a side note, RAR5 format is now also using a derivate of LZ77 compression (basically LZMA), meaning it'll have roughly the same compression, usually a bit worse than LZMA2 in 7-zip. Just not worth the crazy waiting time for such tiny benefits. Most other archivers take 50x longer (at rates like few hundred KB/s) and only gain 1-2MB better compression with several gigabytes of data. In my case even beyond 20MB/s which is lightning fast. It can use as many CPU cores as you can offer to the program, meaning it'll provide amazing output rate. It's free, simple, no bloat or nags and has superb compression. I thought I made so many tweaks and hacks it came from them but seems no. That said, I don't figure what's in common between blue theme and dark minimal one No pb after logoff or reboot, window color setting apply nicely in winrar and active disk image What I 've done: I exported in hackfile the fonts and system metrics from your thin line theme and merged it on DMG and hurray ! Save and copy the updated style in resources without using WSB to use it directly The window color applied correctly under "thin line" theme and some other ones. It also occured with your blue theme ( winrar and active disk image app, same grey although window already set to dark in WSB ), it worked ONLY when testing
I then tried search under other themes if same and I found that : Tried on a clean system but the same grey window under DMG Thanks for helping but I've already tried it without success as it came back after logoff or reboot even when saving under WSB ,BUT interesting following notes how I solved this issue ( weird if it concerns DMG releases but nobody yet report similar things ) : Hi my friend ! didn't want to bother you on VC
